Positions in this classification are assigned to support fleet repair, inspection and maintenance of light, medium and/or heavy fleet vehicles and equipment using a variety of fuel technologies including gasoline and diesel.
· Conduct routine and annual inspections and performs preventive maintenance on all vehicles
· Prepare and maintain documentation, records and reports. Prepare inspection reports to identify and document vehicle accident damage and needed repairs.
· Observe all common shop safety standards. Performs duties safely
· Respond to field service calls and performs preventive maintenance on equipment in shop or in field locations
· Performs complex diagnostics on all vehicle systems while using required safety procedures
· Determines appropriate maintenance and repairs on all vehicle components that include but are not limited to brakes, engine components, transmissions, suspension components, steering components, coolant systems, air conditioners, lifts, fuel systems, exhaust systems, vehicle electrical systems and other components on gasoline and diesel-powered engines.
· Participate in snow removal duties
· May be required to be on-call to address emergency needs
· Performs other duties as assigned
Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed.
ASE certifications in any category, Master status preferred
Graduation from high school or equivalent required
3 years progressively responsible experience as a mechanic with responsibility for a large mixed fleet
Experience with heavy equipment including fire apparatus is preferred
Colorado driver's license required and CDL preferred. CDL required within 6 months of hire.
