TRANSMISSION PROJECT MANAGER (LEVEL II, III or SR.)
Hiring Salary for Level II: $89,000-$133,500
Hiring Salary for Level III: $102,400-153,600
Hiring Salary for Level Senior: $117,800-176,700
Compensation is determined by a combination of factors, including but not limited to education, work experience, and certifications. The actual offer may vary, reflecting the candidate's unique blend of experience, educational background, and skill level.
The Transmission Project Manager will be responsible for managing Extra High Voltage (EHV) transmission line projects from planning through completion. This role coordinates across planning studies, environmental permitting, regulatory filings, engineering, procurement and construction to deliver safe, compliant projects on schedule and within budget. Level will be set based on experience and demonstrated project complexity.
What You'll Do:
Build and manage project plans including scope, schedule, resources and budget
Coordinate with internal SMEs, partnering utilities, consultants and contractors
Support or lead permitting and approvals with regulatory agencies (NEPA experience preferred)
Lead day-to-day execution activities across engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning
Track progress, costs and schedule, escalate risks and drive issue resolution
Facilitate project meetings and communicate updates to stakeholders
Ensure compliance with safety, quality and environmental requirements
Maintain project documentation and document control (including SharePoint site)
Lead or support closeout activities including documentation, financial close and asset tracking
Capture lessons learned and support continuous improvement
Level II: Supports portions of project scope, coordinates day-to-day tasks, escalates complex issues, supports budget tracking and forecasting.
Level III: Manages full project scope for assigned projects, owns schedule and budget performance, mitigates risks, resolves most stakeholder issues independently.
Senior: Leads large-scale or highly complex projects, provides overall accountability for scope delivery, handles sensitive stakeholder issues, delivers executive-level updates, mentors others or leads multiple projects.
Minimum qualifications (all levels)
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, civil engineering, construction engineering/management or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of transmission line design, construction and regulatory requirements. Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a project environment. Proficiency with project management tools (MS Project, Primavera or similar). Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed. On-site project management experience preferred, substation commissioning oversight preferred.
Level II: 4+ years project management (or related) experience
Level III: 6+ years project management experience including 3+ years managing transmission line projects
Senior: 8+ years project management experience including 5 years leading transmission line projects
Preferred experience
345 kV+ transmission projects
NEPA process experience
Complex, multi-stakeholder project environments with partnering utilities
Licenses and certifications:
PE license or PMP certification strongly preferred for Senior candidates
