V2X General Maintenance Worker II in Kwajalein, Marshall Islands

This position will be physically located in Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP

The General Maintenance Worker II will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.

Additional work will include: Replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings, repair or replace sinks, water coolers, and toilets, paint structures and equipment, repair or replace concrete floors steps and sidewalks, replace damaged paneling and floor tiles, hang doors and install door locks, replace broken window panes, and perform general maintenance on equipment and machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.

  • Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs.

  • Plans repair work using buildings blueprints or equipment manual as needed.

  • Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.

  • Performs routine maintenance on building systems.

  • Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.

  • Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

  • High School Graduate or equivalent

  • 2 - 3 years of experience in building or facilities maintenance

  • Knowledge of multiple trades and maintenance procedures

  • Ability to troubleshoot minor facility issues

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Certifications:

  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Card (required within 90 days)

  • First Aid / CPR (preferred)

  • Skills:

  • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors.

  • Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.

  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Working Conditions:

  • Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, wet, tropical environment with average temperatures of 130 degrees in the summer months).

  • Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.

  • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard about the ambient noise level.

  • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

  • The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions. No effective protection from the weather.

  • Physical Requirements:

  • Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.

  • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.

  • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
