Manulife Project Manager (12 Month Contract) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The Opportunity:
The Project Manager plays a pivotal role in delivering high‑impact business and regulatory initiatives that shape the future of our organization. Working with senior stakeholders across business and technology, the PMO drives clear governance, strong execution, and meaningful outcomes. This is an ideal role for professionals who enjoy visibility, collaboration, and making a tangible impact in a leading global insurer.
Responsibilities:
The individual supports, manage and coordinate business and technical projects of moderate and large scope and complexity through all phases of initiation, development, implementation and change management
Support functional teams with ad hoc requests and analytical work
Coordinate and main liaison person for regional and local project reporting on a timely basis
Work directly with stakeholders to understand the individual needs of the business in terms of project delivery
Responsible for managing both technical and business projects delivery end-to-end from initiation to closure phase in coordination with multiple stakeholders
Conduct analysis to drive business process and project improvements
Works with stakeholders to define and manage the scope, strategy, requirements and implementation of projects
Review & facilitate the preparation of business case and ensure its alignment with company strategic priorities and meet the intended business outcomes
Ensure the assigned projects are completed within budgets and schedules while meeting business objectives
Identify, analyse, mitigate, document, and control project risks that impede successful project delivery
Provide effective and regular communication within the project team and to stakeholders, sponsors and management team
Identify resource needs for the project and establishes roles, expectations, goals with team members, and manages project resource tracking
Ability to multi-task and assume other roles e.g. business analysis, test management, change management etc.
Required Qualification:
At least 5-10 years of working experience in project management, preferably deep knowledge of Insurance Operational
Understanding of the local business, key processes and risks: big picture view and on the ground knowledge preferred. Ability to engage other stakeholders as needed
Good understanding of the financial services industry including the regulatory requirements and development
Strong track record of delivering projects on time and within budget
Preferred Qualification:
Recognized Project Management qualification (e.g. Prince 2 Practitioner, PMP) is desirable
Challenges the status quo and looks for ways to enhance processes and tools
Customer focus, and excellent problem-solving skills with ability to think out-of-the-box
