Hilton Fitness Supervisor - (Pre-Opening) Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Fitness Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the fitness center, ensuring the facility remains safe, clean, and well‑maintained while delivering outstanding service to all members. The role includes supervising staff, coordinating equipment upkeep, enforcing safety standards, and supporting the implementation of fitness programs to maintain high operational and service quality. Additionally, Fitness Supervisor actively engages with members, contributes to membership growth efforts, manages feedback, and fosters a positive, customer‑focused environment throughout the facility.

Key Responsibilities / Main Duties

  • Oversee daily operations of the Fitness Centre, ensuring all areas are safe, functional, and well‑maintained
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections, safety checks, and coordinate repairs when necessary.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping throughout the gym facility.
  • Supervise, guide, and support fitness staff and trainers to ensure consistent service excellence.
  • Participate in staff onboarding, training, and ongoing performance evaluation.
  • Promote a positive, customer‑focused, and “can‑do” culture among team members.
  • Provide exceptional service to all members, addressing questions, concerns, and feedback promptly.
  • Conduct Fitness Centre inductions and orientations, ensuring guests and members understand equipment use and safety.
  • Deliver fitness guidance such as assisted stretching, warm‑ups, cool‑downs, and general exercise advice.
  • Conduct facility tours for guests and members and promote membership packages and services.
  • Assist in marketing and outreach initiatives to attract new members and re-engage inactive ones.
  • Monitor member satisfaction, support retention strategies, and help strengthen the Fitness Centre’s reputation.
  • Support the scheduling and coordination of fitness classes, personal training sessions, and wellness activities.
  • Participate in developing new fitness programs and identifying opportunities for enhanced services.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, enforcing gym rules and equipment use guidelines.
  • Serve as a first responder during incidents or emergencies and ensure incident reporting procedures are followed.
  • Monitor potential hazards and proactively resolve or escalate issues.
  • Support maintenance of attendance logs, safety checklists, and membership‑related documentation.
  • Assist management with budget oversight, program reporting, and operational improvements.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned. Management reserves the right to update job description at its discretion and without prior notice.

  • Ensures the punctuality and appearance of all Team Members, making sure that they wear the correct uniform and maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene, according to the hotel and department’s grooming standards.
  • Supports the development of Team Members and prepares and monitors the Department Learning and Development calendar of activities.
  • Ensures timely update for the Job Skills Checklist of All Department Team Members
  • Encourages Team Members to be creative and innovative, challenging and recognizing them for their contribution to the success of the operation.

Financial

  • Ensures that all hotel, company and local rules, policies and regulations relating to financial record keeping, money handling and licensing are adhered to, including the timely and accurate reporting of financial information.
  • Keep oneself informed and updated of the Hotel’s financial goals
  • Focuses attention in improving productivity levels and prudently manage the energy efficiency of all equipment.
  • Ensures new technology and equipment are embraced, improving productivity while taking work out of the system.

Confidentiality

  • Ensures that the confidentiality of all Team Member information and benefits packages must be strongly adhered to.

Operational

  • Monitors and maintains the proper appearance of the office area.
  • Ensures that the Waldorf Astoria Brand Service Standards is fully implemented and adhered to
  • Participates in and supports Waldorf Astoria Ambassador Network initiatives for Team Members and participates in the Waldorf Astoria Ambassador Network Committee Meetings (as necessary)
  • Coordinates and assists in team activities and promotes a “can-do” attitude
  • Sets an example for a high standard of personal hygiene and luxury grooming
  • Attends training sessions and meetings as when required.
  • Carries out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Hold National Personal Training Institute (NPTI), FISAF International – Certified Personal Trainer (Malaysia) or ISSA (International Sports Science Association) or internally recognized related certifications. + Supervisory experience in the leisure sector + Good command of the English language + Ability to oversee member fitness programmes + Relevant fitness qualifications + Excellent grooming standards + Develop team members and self + Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations + Ability to work on your own or in teams
