Introduction

You’ve been around the block, you know your frameworks, and you’re ready to own the automation strategy — not just contribute to it. We’re looking for a Senior Test Automation Engineer who can level up our quality game at IBM Consulting and bring others along for the ride.

Your role and responsibilities

What you’ll be doing:

• Design, build, and evolve automation frameworks that actually scale — diverse testing needs, covered

• Be the go-to technical voice on automation tools, tech choices, and methodology decisions

• Run thorough code reviews and mentor junior engineers — share what you know, make the team stronger

• Spot bottlenecks before they become problems and drive improvements using Agile and DevOps principles

• Identify risks in the automation process early and put strategies in place to keep things running smoothly

• Optimize test suite performance — fast feedback loops, no compromises on coverage or accuracy

Required technical and professional expertise

What you bring:

• 6+ years of hands-on test automation experience — you’ve seen things, you’ve fixed things

• Deep understanding of software testing principles — not just the theory, but how to apply it

• Advanced coding skills in Java, Python, or JavaScript — you write code others want to read

• Expert-level knowledge of at least one framework: Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, or Robot Framework

• Solid API testing skills — REST, SOAP, the works

• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines — Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Bitbucket

• Sharp analytical thinking — you don’t just find root causes, you fix them

• Load and stress testing experience with JMeter or LoadRunner

• Comfort with relational databases and SQL

Your tech stack:

• Test frameworks: Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Robot Framework

• Test management: JIRA Xray, JIRA Zephyr, Azure DevOps

• Version control: GitHub or Bitbucket

• Performance testing: JMeter, LoadRunner

• API testing: SoapUI

• BDD: Cucumber

Preferred technical and professional experience

Bonus points if you have:

• ISTQB Advanced level certification

• Experience with test environment configuration and cross-browser compatibility testing

• Background in risk assessment, defect management, or data masking and anonymization

• Know-how around data setup for regression testing
