Actalent Test Technician in Kohler, Wisconsin

Job Title: Test TechnicianJob Description

Perform a variety of complex tests on engines, carburetors, and components to determine life characteristics and failure mechanisms. Observe and record results of tests and contribute to the team responsible for leading innovations by supporting the engine and engine component product development process.

Responsibilities

  • Set up instrumentation including thermocouples and pressure transducers, and perform a variety of tests such as power checks, fuel consumption, and governor stability.

  • Operate high-speed data acquisition and combustion analysis software such as AnD, AVL, and EFI calibration software.

  • Observe, process, and report test data results using Microsoft Office, which may affect future tests or lead to new information.

  • Maintain complete records of all scheduled and completed tests, including procedures used and results obtained.

  • Analyze data and make recommendations for minor design modifications and enhancements of test systems or procedures.

  • Provide occasional support to departmental audit functions, and work with outside suppliers and customers for accurate testing and results.

  • Perform setup, maintenance, and calibration of test equipment, notifying the supervisor of needs to keep equipment functional and compliant.

  • Clean up test area and equipment after testing.

  • Maintain adequate inventory of supplies for scheduled tests and notify personnel of items to be ordered.

  • Multi-task daily workload with direction from lab supervisor and/or scheduler, coordinating work activities with other technicians.

  • Prepare sample engines and components for testing according to customer application or specification.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with engines

  • Proficiency in LabVIEW and Microsoft Excel

  • Strong communication and computer skills

  • Troubleshooting skills

  • Knowledge of dyno operations

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field, preferred

  • Equivalent experience will be considered

  • Ability to work and communicate at an advanced technical level

Work Environment

The team operates within traditional hours of 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, but there is flexibility within the first shift.

This is a Contract position based out of Kohler, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
