Actalent Engineering Technician in Kohler, Wisconsin

Job Title: Engineering TechnicianJob Description

Under the general supervision of the Manager of Engineering in the Engines Test Lab, the Engineering Technician performs complex tests on engines and related components to evaluate life characteristics and identify failure mechanisms. This role supports innovation within the product development process by conducting tests, documenting results, and providing technical insights.

Responsibilities

  • Configure test stands and prepare engines with required instrumentation such as thermocouples and pressure transducers.

  • Conduct tests following established procedures.

  • Document test data using Microsoft Office products and effectively communicate results.

  • Perform routine service tasks including oil checks, valve lash adjustments, oil and filter changes, spark plug replacement, compression checks, and leak-down measurements.

  • Maintain accurate records of service work and testing outcomes.

  • Perform basic engine repairs and complete reports for failures as required.

  • Analyze test results and make appropriate recommendations.

  • Suggest improvements to systems, processes, or equipment.

  • Assist with equipment maintenance and calibration; notify supervisor of necessary actions.

  • Demonstrate basic fabrication knowledge with the ability to safely operate drill presses, welding equipment, lathes, and mills.

  • Interpret blueprints and engineering documents to prepare components for testing.

  • Manage workload with direction from lab supervisor or scheduler.

  • Coordinate with other technicians.

  • Maintain clean and organized workspaces.

  • Maintain inventory of supplies and notify appropriate personnel for stocking needs.

Essential Skills

  • Experience troubleshooting with or testing engines.

  • Proficiency in using test equipment and Microsoft Excel.

  • Significant technical experience relevant to engine and engine-related products.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology is preferred.

Work Environment

The position involves working in a test lab environment with various testing equipment and tools. Safety protocols must be followed at all times while operating machinery such as drill presses, welding equipment, lathes, and mills. The workspace should be kept clean and organized, and inventory levels should be monitored for necessary supplies.

This is a Contract position based out of Kohler, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
