Job Title: Pipefitter Foreman
Job Description
The Pipefitter Foreman plans, directs, and coordinates daily piping activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with project specifications, company standards, and applicable codes. This role leads teams of pipefitters, welders, and apprentices in the installation of complex piping systems, maintains high standards of workmanship and safety, and collaborates closely with project leadership and other trades to keep projects on schedule.
Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of pipefitters, welders, and apprentices on site.
Plan, lay out, and oversee the installation of piping systems, including hydronic, chilled water, steam, gas, and process piping.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and piping isometrics related to mechanical systems to ensure accurate installation.
Coordinate work activities with superintendents, project managers, and other trades to maintain project schedules and resolve conflicts.
Demonstrate strong working knowledge of job site safety and consistently enforce OSHA and company safety policies.
Conduct daily job hazard analyses (JHAs) and lead toolbox talks to promote a proactive safety culture.
Uphold a high standard of integrity, professionalism, and workmanship in all field activities.
Track labor productivity and material usage, and report progress and issues to management in a timely manner.
Maintain a working knowledge of all hand and power tools required for piping installation and ensure their proper use and care.
Prepare for on-site work by reviewing layouts, anticipating challenges, and coordinating materials, equipment, and manpower needs.
Mentor and train journeymen and apprentices to promote skill development, accountability, and consistent work quality.
Support and participate in weld testing processes for pipe welders, including 6G visual inspection tests where applicable.
Essential Skills
Hands-on experience with pipe fitting and pipe installation in a construction or industrial environment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and piping isometrics.
Strong knowledge of piping systems including hydronic, chilled water, steam, gas, and process piping.
Proficiency with piping system layout, fitting, and installation techniques.
Working knowledge of pipe welding and fabrication practices.
Experience working with carbon steel, stainless steel, stainless pipe, cast iron, PVC, and related piping materials.
Skilled in brazing and soldering for piping applications.
Solid understanding of mechanical systems and their integration with piping installations.
Demonstrated ability to enforce and adhere to OSHA and company safety policies.
Ability to lead, supervise, and coordinate the work of pipefitters, welders, and apprentices.
Strong organizational skills to plan work, track productivity, and manage materials effectively.
Effective communication skills for coordinating with project leadership and other trades.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in a fast-paced construction or industrial piping environment.
Experience in mentoring and developing apprentices and journeymen in the trades.
Familiarity with conducting daily job hazard analyses (JHAs) and leading toolbox talks.
Comfort using a wide range of hand and power tools specific to piping installation.
Ability to prepare for on-site work by reviewing project layouts and anticipating field challenges.
Experience with or ability to support 6G weld testing and visual inspection processes for pipe welders.
Interest in ongoing training and participation in structured apprenticeship or development programs across plumbing, HVAC, sheet metal, or electrical services.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Knoxville, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $33.00/hr.
