Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position has the responsibility to always comply with Safety work rules as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures, and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed, and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.

The purpose of the pasteurizer operator is to run and monitor the pasteurization process and ensure that the liquid egg product is bacterium free. Company standards, USDA standards and customer specifications regulate this person’s duty. He must do routine checks and documentation reports ensuring the egg product is safe for human consumption. This person must have strong attention for

detail.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

▪ Assumes personal responsibility to insure safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures

and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.

▪ Ensures regulatory compliance at all times.

▪ Program the flow of egg product into the pasteurizer.

▪ Program and coordinate operation of the pasteurizer with USDA.

▪ Put the pasteurizer back together when USDA authorizes and coordinate the startup.

▪ Monitor gauges for temperature and make adjustments to pasteurizer as necessary.

▪ Monitor the pasteurizing system for continuous flow or blockage of product.

▪ Must assist in doing the paperwork and documentation of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and other

routine checks required of the position.

▪ Have a science-based understanding of HACCP and pasteurization process in order to troubleshoot the operation effectively and

more efficiently and in a timely manner.

▪ Collect samples for the lab.

▪ Determine if product meets customer specs or not and take corrective action as needed.

▪ Communicate to other departments (tanker bay or cooked department) progression of the different products when running.

▪ Adjust or change the product flow at any given time as the need arises, be able to troubleshoot issues.

▪ Perform Clean in Place (CIP) procedures and physical breaks between product runs.

▪ Hook up tankers, move pumps and adjust pipes as needed.

▪ Cross train in Tanker Bay, be able to keep OPTI Breaker running.

▪ Help with mid shift clean up, and empty egg vats of shells during shift.

▪ Expected to adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that

product quality is maintained in order to maintain SQF certification. Report to management any conditions or practices that may

adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.

▪ Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, coworkers and management.

▪ Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• One-year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification

• Driver’s license

▪ Specific skills and abilities required that are not included in other sections:

▪ Be a self-motivated individual with good communication skills

▪ Good reading, writing and verbal skills

▪ Basic computer skills

▪ Good mechanical skills with good understanding of pumps and valves.

▪ Basic math skills

▪ Strong attention for detail

▪ The ability to follow set procedure instructions

▪ Can work indoors in a damp environment

▪ Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Safety regulations for the area

▪ Wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the job

▪ The equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties.

▪ Ability to operate specific equipment or tools
