Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for complying with all safety work rules at all times and reinforcing Safety as a core value. It ensures that all policies, procedures, and activities related to Food Safety and Quality are consistently followed in order to reduce product and process variability.
The purpose of the Breaking Operator role is to monitor and remove any defective shell eggs and to oversee the breaking machine for inedible egg product. Customers and consumers benefit from the work performed by Breaking Operators through the production of high‑quality liquid egg products.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assumes personal responsibility for maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Follows all safety policies and procedures and incorporates safety and health into all tasks.
Ensures regulatory compliance at all times.
Rotates between two stations:
Candler: Removes damaged or defective shell eggs according to USDA specifications.
Breaking Machine Operator: Removes inedible egg product by flipping a lever to divert inedible egg to a holding tank.
Determines whether product meets proper specifications and takes corrective action when necessary.
Follows safe work practices, adheres to GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintains sanitary conditions, and ensures product quality to support SQF Quality Certification. Reports any conditions or practices that may negatively affect food safety, food quality, or personnel safety.
Maintains a positive work atmosphere by communicating and interacting effectively with customers, clients, co‑workers, and management.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
No prior experience or training is required.
Ability to read a limited number of two‑ and three‑syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Ability to add and subtract two‑digit numbers and to multiply and divide using 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and measurements of weight, volume, and distance.
Ability to apply common‑sense understanding to carry out instructions given orally. Ability to handle problems involving one concrete variable in standardized situations.
