Summary You will serve as a PLASTIC FABRICATOR SUPERVISOR I in the COATINGS AND COVERINGS SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. TEMPORARY PROMOTION NOT TO EXCEED 1 YEAR AND MAY BECOME PERMANENT Responsibilities You will assign work to subordinates by oral and written instructions and conduct pre-job briefings on the technical requirements associated with the task. You will prescribe work methods, procedures, and standards of quality and quantity to plan and schedule work to be performed. You will participate in a full range of personnel and administrative supervision over the assigned workforce. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE: Planning sequence of operations and supervising the working of groups of employees Supervising the setting up and operation of the molding machine to manufacture items from thermoplastic and rubber material. Inspecting work areas to check for removal of debris and scrap, movement of storage of material, and placement of moveable tools and equipment as well as submit recommendations for new machines and tools. Enforcing safety, fire, and other regulations and maintaining good "housekeeping" in work areas supervised. Interpreting blueprints, their accompanying job orders and as required layouts, patterns, and sketches.
