United States Fleet Forces Command LEAD SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in Kittery, Maine
Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Notice of Result letters will not be sent to applicants who respond to this flyer. Responsibilities You will conduct Occupational Safety and Health inspections and surveys throughout the shipyard. You will develop and issue new and unique Occupational Safety and Health instructions/procedures. You will prepare reports that contain findings and risk assessments. You will conduct personnel injury and/or property damage accident investigations. You will perform system safety analysis of engineering drawings, process instructions and design memorandums. You will lead and mentor a team of 3 or more Safety Specialists using problem solving methods, providing advice on task assignments by using practices and procedures to develop viable solutions. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience identifying and evaluating conventional and non-conventional industrial and shipyard hazardous conditions which may involve risk to personnel. Experience applying occupational safety and health practices applicable to equipment used in the construction and shipyard industries, materials, utility and ship systems. Experience communicating ergonomic principles to motivate individuals to act and work in a safe manner. Experience recommending corrective measures when hazardous conditions and practices are encountered during industrial and ship overhaul trade processes, procedures, and use of tools.
