Applied Research Associates, Inc. Safety Intern in Kirtland AFB, New Mexico
Description
The Test Technology Division of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking a motivated Safety Intern to support our Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) program. This position offers hands‑on experience within a federal contracting environment, supporting multiple operational locations with a focus on safety compliance, hazard identification, and day‑to‑day safety operations. The role is based at our Kirtland Air Force Base location in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with facility and site safety inspections across multiple locations
Support hazard identification, risk evaluation, and risk acceptance documentation
Maintain and restock first aid supplies and safety equipment
Track and organize safety-related inventory
Assist with documentation, reporting, and basic billing coordination
Support implementation of safety programs, procedures, and site-specific requirements
Participate in safety meetings, briefings, and field activities as assigned
Preferred Background
Currently pursuing a degree in Fire Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Construction Management, or a related field
Interest in workplace safety, compliance, and risk management
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to work in both office and field environments
