Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking an exceptional Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in building, testing, qualifying, and producing next‑generation spacecraft. This role is pivotal in applying innovative solutions and advanced manufacturing approaches to solve complex challenges at both the system and component levels.
The position is heavily focused on PCBA‑driven builds that form the core electronic systems of the satellite. You will work closely with cross‑functional engineering, quality, and production teams to develop and improve manufacturing processes across multiple PCBA build lines supporting key satellite subsystems, including but not limited to solar components, housing assemblies, and battery‑related systems. The work spans from early development through full‑scale production and has a direct impact on product quality, reliability, and mission success.
Responsibilities
Serve as the primary technical contact for production-related issues, ensuring rapid resolution and implementing long-term corrective actions.
Manage non-conforming materials and lead root cause investigations using structured problem-solving techniques such as Fishbone, Fault Tree, and DMAIC.
Create and update shop orders, work instructions, and standard operating procedures to support continuous production flow.
Develop and maintain troubleshooting documentation for production test hardware.
Collaborate with design, quality, and test engineering teams to support both development and production programs.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and other Operational Excellence methodologies.
Support integration, testing, and troubleshooting of mechanical and electronic systems.
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Demonstrated experience reviewing and approving nonconforming material (NCs/MRBs) within production.
Experience working in low-rate, high-complexity manufacturing environments.
Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles, 5S, and Six Sigma methodologies.
Proficiency in root cause analysis tools, including Fishbone Diagrams, Fault Tree Analysis, and DMAIC.
Experience creating and updating work instructions and standard operating procedures.
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control, and production systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with automated manufacturing processes and test methods at component, subsystem, and system levels.
Knowledge of QTP/ATP, functional testing, and environmental testing (thermal, acoustic, vibration).
Strong background in electrical system design, metrology, and mechanical failure analysis.
Demonstrated technical writing skills for documentation such as test plans, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides.
Work Environment
This position is based onsite in Kirkland. The work schedule includes Wed-Sat day shifts.

This is a Contract position based out of Kirkland, WA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $66.70 - $66.70/hr.
