Job Summary
In this role, you will support the design, development, and testing of cutting-edge aircraft power systems.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review system and unit-level environmental and EMI test procedures guided by DO-160, MIL-STD-810, and MIL-STD-461 standards for new aircraft electrical power equipment designs.
Perform environmental and EMI testing, troubleshoot designs, and document results from laboratory testing.
Design and develop custom system and unit-level test equipment. Create test equipment drawings to enable successful testing of aircraft power systems.
Analyze test results and technical problems using data and specification requirements. Document findings, ensuring accuracy and alignment with objectives.
Support Astronics’ in-house EMI lab operations, including defining standard and custom test equipment for problem discovery and isolation.
Prepare and present technical information to internal teams, program personnel, and external customers.
Guide technicians and operators in conducting system integration, unit-level development testing, and building custom test equipment.
Support environmental, EMI development, troubleshooting, and formal certification testing of aircraft electrical generation, conversion, and distribution systems.
Develop and review test procedures and reports for system-level, environmental, and EMI testing. Supplement DO-160, MIL-STD-810, and MIL-STD-461 certification activities as needed.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution is required.
Experience:
Minimum 2+ years of professional experience involving integration and test of aircraft electrical power systems. Experience should include:
Integrating and testing aircraft electrical power distribution systems (both lab and on-aircraft environments).
Troubleshooting and monitoring serial data buses and avionics systems.
FAA Part 23 or Part 35 certification testing.
Electrical wiring design (aircraft and test equipment).
Proficiency with PC-controlled test equipment, instrumentation, data logging, and sensors.
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel (including charting and formulas), Word, PowerPoint, and 2D drawing tools.
Effectively presenting technical information to diverse internal and external audiences.
Additional Requirements:
Must meet ITAR eligibility requirements. As a U.S. Department of Defense contractor U.S. Person status is required .
Employment is contingent on completing a pre-employment background check and drug screening (includes cannabis) .
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation:
Salary Range: $79,293 – $118,940 per year (Mid-point: $99,117).
Final salary is based on factors like experience, certifications, and market conditions, with most new hires placed closer to the midpoint.
Quarterly Profit Sharing Bonus is offered as part of Astronics’ highly competitive compensation package.
