BAE Systems Chemical Process Engineer for Production in Kingsport, Tennessee
Job Description

BAE Systems, one of the world's largest defense contractors, is hiring a Chemical Process Engineer to help us produce energetic materials for our government and commercial customers. An ideal candidate will have experience in the chemical manufacturing field and an interest in process controls and hands-on engineering problem solving.
As a process engineer, you will:
Assist in the design, development, and implementation of new processes and process improvements
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process optimization and implement changes
Develop and implement process control strategies to ensure efficient and safe operation
Troubleshoot process issues and provide technical support to production operators
Identify and implement corrective actions to resolve process issues
Develop and maintain process documentation, including SOPs, P&IDs, PFDs
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations
Participate in audits and inspections to ensure compliance
Participate in safety and quality initiatives to ensure a safe and healthy work environment
Identify and mitigate potential safety and quality risks
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, and quality
Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including production operators, supervisors, and management
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related field and 4 years experience, including 3 or more years of experience in a production environment, preferably in the chemical or process industry
Strong understanding of chemical process principles, including mass and energy balances, thermodynamics, and kinetics
Ability to interpret P&IDs and Process Flow Diagrams
Process improvement experience (Production, SHE, Quality)
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Ability to work on shift and/or be on-call on occasion when production requires it
We will consider candidates with fewer years experience for a more junior position or additional experience for a more senior position
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment
Experience in energetics manufacturing
Experience in troubleshooting process issues, management of change, process hazard analysis
Experience in strong acids and bases, chemical reactions, recrystallization
Experience with MiniTab or Bluebeam a plus#LI-Onsite #LI-JR1
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $79370 - $134929
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
