Essential Job Functions
This position plays a critical leadership role in supporting and advancing the Countys financial operations by overseeing all core finance functions, including budgeting, payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, financial reporting, and auditing. The role ensures the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of the Countys financial records in accordance with applicable accounting and auditing standards. Responsibilities include leading the development and administration of the annual budget, monitoring general ledger activity; and overseeing financial system operations and ERP compliance. This position also provides strategic guidance to departments on financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including IRS and retirement system compliance, while ensuring proper internal controls are maintained across all financial activities. In addition, the role supervises and develops staff, oversees payroll operations, manages required tax reporting functions, and delivers training and financial reporting to promote consistency, accountability, and informed decision-making across the organization. The incumbent represents the department in both internal and public settings.
