The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisors (TCIS I, II) to support PennDOT highway and structural projects across multiple districts in Pennsylvania.

This role offers competitive hourly rates and full-time benefits and provides the opportunity to lead inspection efforts on critical transportation infrastructure projects. You will play a key role in ensuring construction quality, safety, and compliance with PennDOT standards while supervising field inspection staff and supporting project delivery.

What You'll Do:

As a Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor, you will oversee and coordinate construction inspection activities for highway and structural projects. You will supervise field staff, monitor contractor operations, and ensure all work is performed in accordance with PennDOT specifications, project plans, and contract requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise and coordinate inspection activities for highway and structural construction projects, including concrete and asphalt paving, structures, drainage systems, guide rail, Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT), and Erosion & Sediment (E&S) controls.
  2. Ensure compliance with PennDOT Publication 408, RC, BC, TC, and contract special provisions.
  3. Review project plans, specifications, and contractor schedules.
  4. Oversee and complete Project Site Activity Reports (PSAs) and other required documentation using mobile platforms such as iPad/Kahua.
  5. Monitor contractor performance and field activities to ensure quality, safety, and adherence to project requirements.
  6. Prepare and review work orders and cost estimates in accordance with PennDOT Publication 2 - Project Office Manual.
  7. Coordinate field staff assignments and provide direction to inspection personnel.
  8. Communicate effectively with contractors, project managers, and PennDOT representatives.
  9. Support overall construction management efforts to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within specifications.

What You'll Bring:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Experience in transportation construction inspection (TCI) for highway and/or structure projects.
  3. Relevant certifications may include:
  4. NICET
  5. ACI
  6. NECEPT Concrete
  7. NECEPT Asphalt
  8. Nuclear Gauge Certification
  9. Experience with iPad/Kahua or similar construc ion documentation systems.
  10. Civil Engineering degree may be substituted for TCI experience and certifications.
  11. Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise field staff.
  12. Strong understanding of PennDOT standards, specifications, and inspection procedures.
  13. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  14. Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
