The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors (TCI I, II, III) to support PennDOT highway and structural projects across multiple districts in Pennsylvania.

This role offers competitive hourly rates and full-time benefits and provides the opportunity to work on impactful transportation infrastructure projects throughout the region. You will play a key role in ensuring construction quality, safety, and compliance with PennDOT standards while supporting roadway and bridge improvement initiatives.

What You'll Do:

As a Transportation Construction Inspector, you will support construction management and inspection activities for highway and structural projects. You will monitor field operations, verify compliance with PennDOT specifications, and document construction progress to ensure projects are delivered safely and in accordance with contract requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform inspection of highway and structural construction activities, including concrete and asphalt paving, structures, drainage systems, guide rail, Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT), and Erosion & Sediment (E&S) controls.
  2. Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with PennDOT standards and specifications, including Publication 408 and related requirements.
  3. Review project plans, specifications, and contract schedules.
  4. Prepare and maintain Individual Daily Reports (IDRs) and other project documentation using mobile platforms such as iPad/Kahua.
  5. Document construction progress, materials, and field conditions.
  6. Prepare work orders and cost estimates in accordance with project requirements.
  7. Communicate effectively with contractors, project managers, and field personnel regarding project activities and compliance.
  8. Support overall construction management efforts to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within specifications.

What You'll Bring:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Experience in transportation construction inspection (TCI) for highway and/or structure projects preferred.
  3. Certifications may include:
  4. NICET
  5. ACI
  6. NECEPT Concrete
  7. NECEPT Asphalt
  8. Nuclear Gauge Certification
  9. Experience with iPad/Kahua or similar construction documentation systems.
  10. Civil Engineering degree may be substituted for TCI experience and certifications.
  11. Working knowledge of PennDOT construction standards and inspection procedures preferred.
  12. Strong communication and documentation skills.
  13. Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
