The Front Counter Attendant/Barista provides friendly, efficient service to guests, prepares beverages, manages the front counter, and maintains a clean and organized environment. This position is important for creating a positive experience for the many visitors who come from Kernville and surrounding areas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet guests promptly and politely.
  • Provide accurate information about pastries, breads, breakfast, lunch, and coffee items.
  • Take orders clearly and professionally, even during busy periods.
  • Enter guest orders accurately into the POS system.
  • Handle cash, cards, and mobile payments correctly.
  • Coordinate order flow with the kitchen and barista station.

uties

  • Prepare espresso drinks, teas, cold beverages, and specialty drinks consistently.
  • Steam milk to proper temperature and texture.
  • Restock and maintain barista station supplies.
  • Clean espresso machine, grinders, and brewing equipment as instructed.

Food Handling

  • Set up and maintain the pastry display case.
  • Rotate and restock items to ensure freshness.
  • Assist with heating or serving food items when needed.

Cleanliness and Organization

  • Keep the front counter, pastry case, condiment station, and dining areas clean.
  • Bus tables and reset the dining area as necessary.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Complete opening, mid - shift, and closing checklists.

Team Support

  • Communicate clearly with cooks, dishwashers, and other staff.
  • Assist teammates during busy times.
  • Report low stock or equipment issues to management.

QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong customer service skills and a friendly, professional attitude.
  • Ability to work in a fast - paced environment.
  • Punctuality and reliability.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Basic math and POS skills.
  • Valid Food Handler Card (or willingness to obtain).

Preferred

Previous barista or caf experience.

Experience in customer service, hospitality, or retail.

Basic knowledge of espresso equipment.
