Job Title: CAD Drafter/Designer
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled CAD Drafter/Designer to create and update sketches, working drawings, and contract documents using Computer Assisted Design (CAD) software. The role involves preparing both 2D and 3D models and requires the ability to read and comprehend detailed customer requirements, data sheets, and supplier specifications. The candidate should be familiar with drafting techniques, engineering concepts, and terminology, as well as be able to read engineering drawings and blueprints. Additionally, preparing documentation to support design drawings is a key part of the role.
Responsibilities
Perform complex and non-standard project work using applications and tools specific to job assignment and discipline.
Prepare engineering plans, designs, specifications, and standards.
Develop and prepare engineering studies to support specific program objectives and derive investment levels.
Identify, conduct, and document research for system compliance requirements.
Prepare cost estimates and project evaluations.
Interact and coordinate directly with internal and external customers to understand project requirements.
Create and update job work orders and project documentation including tasks, calculations, and records.
Conduct office and field research, measurement, and verification of equipment data, and create and update equipment records.
Direct and perform data and records management.
Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and design, operation, and maintenance requirements.
Coordinate the work of others who assist in specific assignments, including contractors and consultants.
Identify improvements to and update department standards, processes, templates, tools, and databases with oversight from more senior team members.
Solve problems independently and work around barriers.
Effectively communicate technical information to team members and internal and external customers.
Check and review simple project work of others and provide basic technical guidance to other personnel.
Essential Skills
2-3 years of relevant experience.
2-3 years of experience with CAD software.
Proficient in drafting, design, and CAD.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
Strong organizational, documentation, prioritization, and project management skills.
Ability to read and comprehend detailed customer requirements, data sheets, and supplier specifications.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D is a bonus.
Experience in design, preparation of specifications, technical field work, or system studies.
Experience in project cost estimating or scheduling.
Experience working with both internal and external customers on projects.
Knowledge of engineering economics & analysis.

This position is based in Kent, WA, and offers a hybrid work environment. The role provides an exceptional opportunity to join a highly reputable energy and utilities company. This is a long-term contract position lasting two years.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
