Opening for Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Overview:
Repair work to equipment, both in the field and in the central shop. Also, preventive maintenance on equipment used on the mine site. Runs small support equipment to aid the maintenance process such as forklifts, cranes, and tire handlers. Does work as fueling, laborer work, and work in the steam-bay. Clean work areas as needed and other work associated with the daily operation of a surface coal mine, located near Kemmerer, Wyoming. Employees are part of a diverse team committed to safety.
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION'S ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- The Mechanic will perform repair work in the shop and field on coal haulers; front end loaders; bulldozers; scrapers; coal and overburden drills; graders; water trucks; and back hoes.
- The Mechanic replaces air hoses and hydraulic hoses that are broken on coal haulers; front end loaders; scrapers; coal and overburden drills; graders; water trucks; and backhoes.
- They remove and rebuild the air and hydraulic hoses cutting the hoses to length and using a hydraulic press to clock and set the fittings to connect the air and hydraulic hoses.
- Mechanic uses a lap top computer to trouble shoot electrical components on the heavy equipment to determine what repairs needs to be performed.
- The Mechanic replaces heavy equipment clutches; brakes; brake drums; transmissions; etc.
- Must be able to drive heavy equipment they are working on.
Qualifications:
- Valid Driver's License and Good Driving Record
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Must be able to work rotating shifts
- Successfully complete qualification testing
- Successfully complete a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
- Prior mechanical experience or mechanical technical education.
- Ability to perform all duties and activities in a manner which conforms to mine safety requirements.
- Preferred Qualifications: Previous Mine experience
