Accessible Community Empowerments Housing Specialist in Kearny, New Jersey
The Housing Specialist supports individuals in New Jersey’s Housing Supports Pre-Tenancy and Tenancy Programs. This role helps participants secure and maintain stable housing by assisting with applications, landlord engagement, tenant education, and ongoing housing retention support.Responsibilities•Assist individuals in locating, applying for, and obtaining housing.•Provide education on tenant rights, lease agreements, and responsibilities.•Support participants with budgeting, rent payment, and household management.•Conduct home visits and provide ongoing tenancy sustaining services.•Mediate landlord/tenant issues and advocate for participants.•Connect participants with community resources to promote stability.Deliverables• Contact Referrals • Follow up two or four times a month depending on Level of Need• Complete trainings as assigned.• Document on HMIIS or EMR provided.• Reporting data to the Executive Director. Qualifications•Associate or bachelor’s degree in human services or related field (experience may be considered).•Experience in housing, case management, or supportive services preferred.•Knowledge of NJ affordable housing and tenant rights.•Strong communication and problem-solving skills.•Valid NJ driver’s license and reliable transportation required. •State, Federal Criminal Background checks and Central Registry check at the time of hire.Requirements• Must have a working cell phone• Must have reliable transportation • Must have a working laptop or computer • Must have reliable internet access• Office setting with occasional travel to different company locations for in-person training.• Hybrid or flexible work arrangements may be considered.Please email info@acempowerments.com Subject Line- NJDOL Applicant
