Position: Senior Manager EHS
Reporting to: Director Operations
Division: Established Pharmaceutical Division - Operation
Location: Karachi -Pakistan
Job Summary:
Development and enforcement of EHS policies and standards as per the requirements of plant specifically and across the affiliate in general. To assist Operations Director in establishment and implementation of Environment, Health & Safety goals and to provide over all leadership, direction and coordination of all EHS & OHS related activities. Also assist Operations Director in all Management based decisions, as and when required.
Major Responsibilities:
To assist Operations Director in establishment and implementation of Environmental health & Safety goals.
To Coordinate the plant communication at EPO level.
To organize and supervise functions of Environmental health & Safety concerns and provide overall leadership, direction and coordination of all EHS related activities. Establish priorities and strategies. Monitor actual vs. planned activities, taking corrective actions as necessary to meet plan objectives.
Develop and administer plans and programs to meet EHS objectives and financial plans, in accordance with applicable corporate Global Environmental health & Safety standards. Monitor and control expenses and to manage cost in achieving objectives.
To communicate with employees on EHS issues.
Provide recognition to employees for positive EHS actions and to perform EHS tours for Environmental health & Safety concerns and ensure an action plan is in place to address identified deficiencies.
Ensure operations are in compliance with applicable environmental laws, regulations, permits, licenses, approvals and requirements (as may be required).
Ensure EHS actions related to incidents (injuries, illnesses, environmental incidents), and audit findings (EHS audits, Loss Prevention and external audits/inspections) are addressed in a timely manner.
Ensure responsibility for EHS performance and compliance through active participation and support of Abbott's EHS program.
Ensure trouble free smooth plant operations.
Ensure provision of the necessary training and resources to educate employees about compliance to all safety rules and procedures.
Ensure that manufacturing/ plant equipment are under conditions, which meet applicable Global Environmental health & Safety standards, Engineering standards & Specifications, EPO Policies / Procedure, Local Regulatory and CGMP requirements and Housekeeping Standards.
Assure compliance with Abbott code of business conduct, policies and laws. Maintain a safe working environment.
Guide Commercial EHS function on need basis for better understanding and implementation of EHS requirements.
Actively supports performance Excellence.
Coordinate with Quality information feedback with QA e.g. QA Audits etc.
To manage Troubleshoot EHS issues.
Any other job assigned by Operations Director.
Education/Knowledge & Experience:
Graduation in Mechanical, Chemical or environmental/Master in Environments would be an added advantage
6-9 years of experience in EHS and 2-3 years in the same position in any pharma industry
Knowledge of EHS related standard, policies, and procedures particularly in pharma industry
Knowledge of Budgeting, EHS Certifications, EHS orientations plan and others EHS administrative plans.
