Job Description Summary: The Spira Care EHR Training & Optimization Lead plays a critical role in ensuring that the Spira Care electronic health record (EHR) system, Athenahealth, and other digital tools are effectively integrated into care center workflows and are confidently used by staff. This role focuses on optimizing how care center staff use technology: providing training, refining workflows, and promoting best practices in documentation and data use. By working closely with end users at each of the Spira Care locations, the EHR Training & Optimization lead helps make the technology more user-friendly and ensures it contributes to improved patient care and employee satisfaction.

Job Description / Responsibilities:• Develop and deliver role-specific training programs, such as job aides, quick reference guides or instructional videos to accommodate diverse learning styles that help care center staff use the EHR and other health IT systems efficiently.• Conduct training for new hires, working with Care Center leadership and Clinical Informatics to provide at-the-elbow support for new employees through their first 90 days.• Provide refresher training, such as lunch-and-learn sessions, when system updates or new features are introduced. • Work with Care Center leadership to evaluate workflows, identify technology-related bottlenecks or inefficiencies. Partner with systems analysts to gather input on system functionality and ensure configuration settings are properly communicated and integrated into training resources. • Support implementation of new health technology projects or system upgrades, which includes participating in software testing and validating that new features align with business requirements. Lead cross-functional projects and programs, as assigned, that span improvement initiatives and/or new implementations. Responsible for managing timelines and deliverables, facilitation of improvement/design sessions, coaching and mentoring staff, overcoming obstacles, and leading the change management work needed to bring the work to completion.• Perform as a liaison between care center staff and technical teams, translating care center needs into technical requirements and vice versa. Ensure staff have the resources necessary to use electronic health record (EHR) systems and other applications efficiently in their workflow.• Perform as a go-to support resource for care center staff, providing on-the-spot assistance, answering EHR questions, and offering tips. Troubleshoot minor issues while escalating technical ones to the EHR analytics team as needed. • Be present in care centers during new system go-lives or major updates to support staff and ensure smooth deployment. • Support and train super-users at each care center, holding regular meetings to share updates, collect feedback, and spread best practices. • Deliver training and ongoing education to Care Center staff on Athena best practices, functionality, features, and workflows. • Drive continuous improvement through proactive gathering feedback from staff regarding workflow challenges and pain points. Track usage trends or recurring issues, collaborating with system analysts on findings to recommend future enhancements or further training. • Remain informed about the latest Athenahealth features and industry best practices to recommend relevant improvements.• Participate in projects or process improvement initiatives as assigned.• Travel to Care Center locations as necessary to work directly with end users, providing on-site collaboration, support, and education.• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in health informatics, health information management, computer science, nursing, or a related field
Five or more years of experience in healthcare delivery, at least three years of which is in primary care
Demonstrated competence and experience with EHR systems, workflows, and related health IT applications
Demonstrated understanding of principles of effective adult learning and teaching strategies
Proven ability to collaborate effectively and build strong professional relationships with diverse medical professionals
Skilled in motivational interviewing
Skilled in coaching, team building, and/or leading behavior change strategies
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
Ability to define problems (technical and clinical/operational), collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and action plan
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) including public presentation and instructional skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail
Intermediate level expertise with Microsoft Office tools
Intermediate knowledge of SharePoint or other information sharing/file access software platform
Must be based in the Kansas City metropolitan area and have reliable transportation to travel to care centers
