Custom Truck One Source Crane Installation Technician (Electrical, Mechanic) 6A-2:30PM in Kansas City, Missouri

Custom Truck One Source "CTOS" 7701 Independence Ave., Building H, Kansas City, MO 64125

  • Knowledge of 12V electrical systems including multi-plex wiring.

  • Test equipment to include 12V test light and VOM meter.

  • 6:00am – 2:30pm (OT as needed)

SUMMARY

Responsible for performing heavy duty crane modifications, installations and repairs to damaged cranes and crane parts, plus crane repair and maintenance work in accordance with Custom Truck and factory standards under the general direction of the Crane Shop Manager.

  • Installation and removal of different types of crane and crane equipment.

  • Installation and removal of different types of truck bodies and equipment.

  • Electrical and Lighting Modifications: Utility trucks often require additional lighting, power outlets, and other electrical components.

  • General knowledge of electrical components such as: switches, relays, fuses, circuit breaker, diodes, resistors etc. is desired.

  • Knowledge of 12V electrical systems including multi-plex wiring.

  • Physically able to run wiring harnesses along frame rails of truck and in between drive axles.

  • Modification of crane truck wheelbases.

  • Installation and removal of crane truck suspensions.

  • Perform work as outlined on crane order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with Custom Truck and factory standards.

  • Fabrication and installation of components related to crane equipment installations.

  • Keeps shop area neat and clean and be able to account for all tools at all times.

  • Ability to follow both written and verbal installation instructions.

  • Uses and maintains all necessary shop equipment required to complete any crane repairs or PM inspections.

  • Tags all warranty and core parts and take to area for return, insuring proper credit is allowed.

  • Advises Crane Manager immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if installations or repairs cannot be completed within the time promised.

  • Document work performed.

  • Attend factory-sponsored training classes.

  • Ensures that customers’ cranes are kept clean.

  • Tests crane to quality-check work performed.

  • Works with all departments in harmony.

  • Must have a working knowledge and understanding of the Company’s Job Safety policies pertaining to this position. Attends and participates in Custom Truck monthly safety training classes.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Crane installations.

  • Welding and fabrication of cranes.

  • Knowledge of 12V electrical systems including multi-plex wiring.

  • Basic understanding of truck mounted crane hydraulic systems and installation procedures.

  • Sockets and wrenches through 1 ½ SAE and 22 MM metric.

  • Air tools with minimum ½ inch air drill and impact.

  • Pliers, screwdrivers and pipe wrenches.

  • Test equipment to include 12V test light and VOM meter.

SKILLS & ABILLITIES

  • Must be able to represent Custom Truck & Equipment in a professional manner. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This is a physically demanding position. This employee will stand eight or more hours per shift. Will frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Will use hand and power tools as well as hoist and test equipment. Hand tools subject employee to vibration, hand, arm and upper extremity stress. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and talk or hear.
