Actalent Civil Designer in Kansas City, Missouri

Civil DesignerOverview

In this role, you will support a wide range of civil design efforts across planning, proposal development, site evaluation, engineering analysis, reporting, construction documentation and environmental plan preparation. You’ll work on diverse projects and client portfolios, contributing to solutions that help communities and industries grow and thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare civil design drawings and production deliverables for projects of varying complexity.

  • Execute design assignments using standard methods and established design practices, including layout development, calculations and drawing presentation.

  • Revise drawings, sketches and markups throughout the life of a project.

  • Analyze reports, maps, drawings, tests and topographic or geologic data to support project planning and design.

  • Apply relevant codes, standards and specifications to civil design deliverables.

  • Perform grading and volume calculations for excavation, dredging and site development activities.

  • Incorporate project schedules, budgets and design criteria into civil layouts and deliverables.

  • Review drawings for quality, accuracy and alignment with project scope, budget and schedule.

  • Maintain project files, plot records and design documentation in a clear and organized manner.

  • Comply with all company policies, standards and safety expectations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in drafting technology or a related field and 7 years of related experience, or

  • Associate degree and 8 years of related experience, or

  • 9 years of progressive detailing and design experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation and Excel.

  • Advanced knowledge of civil design principles, calculations and design systems.

  • Solid understanding of civil engineering practices, with working knowledge of how related disciplines interface with civil design.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a multidiscipline project environment to resolve design issues and deliver high-quality work.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills with close attention to detail.

  • This role works closely with project managers, engineers and designers in a collaborative, multidiscipline setting. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
