Burns & McDonnell Building Maintenance Manager - Facilities (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri

Description

The Building Maintenance Manager will manage the safety and functionality of our facilities. This role will manage and perform routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repairs in our facilities to ensure efficient operational functionality. The Building Maintenance Manager will manage regular inspections and respond to maintenance requests for a variety of building maintenance repairs.

  • Operate and monitor building systems, including routine maintenance and repair tasks in and around the building, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry work.

  • Manage preventive maintenance schedules to extend the life of building systems and equipment.

  • Manage regular inspections to identify and address safety hazards, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

  • Manage preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis.

  • Manage equipment specifications, maintenance procedures and operational guidelines.

  • Diagnose and repair building systems and equipment malfunctions promptly to minimize downtime.

  • Manage an inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies necessary for building maintenance tasks.

  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to building occupants.

  • Manage, develop and maintain detailed audit records of maintenance and repair activities, including work orders, materials used, and inspections.

  • Implement and enforce safety protocols for the maintenance team.

  • Generate and present reports on maintenance metrics, equipment status and resource utilization.

  • Assist in managing the maintenance budget by sourcing cost-effective solutions and tracking expenses.

  • Operate computerized Energy Management systems.

  • Respond immediately to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.) and maintenance concerns

  • Provide excellent customer service. Respond to fix requests/problems in a timely and courteous manner

  • Responsible for the recruitment, development, training, and retention of staff.

  • Responsible for conducting performance evaluations for department staff.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the department.

  • Responsible for interpreting the organization's policies, purposes, and goals to staff.

  • Responsible for overall QA/QC process adherence.

  • Enforce compliance with company and site safety policies.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and 10 years of relevant experience required.

  • Proven experience in building maintenance, construction, or a related field.

  • Expert knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry systems.

  • Ability to use hand and power tools effectively.

  • Expert problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Expert communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Expert knowledge of safety protocols and regulations.
