Job Description
Coordinates scheduling of procedures and tests ordered by referring physicians and during ambulatory visits. Provides patient education and instructions specific to patient’s visit. Gathers patient information pertinent to scheduled visit including physical limitations, medications, and socio-economical considerations. Verifies financial and insurance information, obtains appropriate pre-certification and authorization for referrals and enters into the STAR system. Maintains database for referral patients and provides follow up information to referring physicians. Assembles results and medical management plan for review by medical and nursing staff. Responsible for providing a positive image through the display of a professional demeanor, superior written and verbal communication skills and adherence to all of the organization’s policies, procedures and protocols. . Work is performed in accordance with established procedures under the direction of the clinic leadership.
Minimum Requirements
High school graduate or equivalent
Minimum of two years scheduling experience in a fast-paced clinic or hospital setting.
Demonstrated experience working with complex patient scheduling and service access process
Proven organizational and communication skills.
Experience with electronic data management including scheduling, typing, and document formatting.
Excellent demonstrated customer service skills, analytical thinking, and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Ability to work autonomously with ability to follow through all tasks to completion and attention to detail.
Possess a high degree of flexibility and ability to adapt quickly to changing demands with the capability to multi-task and communicate effectively in any situation.
Ability to perform under pressure, during demanding and chaotic situations. Detail oriented
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff and patients at all times during face to face and over the phone encounters.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in registration preferred.
Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding.
Comprehension of medical terminology.
