CBRE Global Workplace Solutions

About the Role

This position sits at the center of advanced industrialautomation operations and is responsible for keeping highly automated equipmentrunning safely, reliably, and at peak performance. As a Mechatronics andRobotics Technician, you will serve as a front line technical expert supportingintegrated mechanical, electrical, and controls based systems that power alarge scale fulfillment and distribution environment.

You will work across interconnected automation platformsthat include conveyor networks, robotic handling systems, automated packagingequipment, and sensor driven control systems. The role requires practicaltroubleshooting depth across electrical, mechanical, and controls layers, notjust component swap outs. You will be expected to diagnose failure modes, tracesignals, validate device behavior, and restore system functionality withminimal supervision.

The role goes beyond routine maintenance. You willindependently investigate faults, isolate root causes, and execute correctiverepairs across robotic cells, automated conveyance, sortation equipment, drives, and smart sensing devices. You will regularly work inside controlenclosures, on energized and de-energized equipment following safety procedure, and alongside live operations teams where response time and technical accuracymatter.

This is an ideal opportunity for technicians who enjoycomplex troubleshooting, hands on technical work, and continuous learning inautomation, robotics, and controls technology. The environment rewardsdiagnostic thinking, disciplined safety behavior, and ownership of equipmentreliability outcomes.

What You Will Own and Deliver

  • Restore failed automation and robotic systems to operational condition through structured troubleshooting

  • Take technical ownership of assigned equipment zones and critical assets

  • Execute both planned and corrective maintenance with high documentation accuracy

  • Identify repeat failure patterns and recommend reliability improvements

  • Support rapid response repair activity during operational events and unplanned downtime

  • Maintain readiness of critical spare parts, tools, and test equipment

  • Provide technical feedback to reliability and engineering partners on recurring failure points

Core Technical Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot electro mechanical failures across automated material handling, robotic, and packaging systems

  • Perform structured fault isolation using multimeters, clamp meters, and basic diagnostic tools

  • Trace control circuits using electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, and point to point wiring prints

  • Diagnose device level faults on PLC controlled equipment including sensors, inputs, outputs, and actuators

  • Replace and recommission field devices including photo eyes, proximity sensors, encoders, solenoids, and limit switches

  • Inspect and repair mechanical power transmission components including chains, sprockets, belts, pulleys, couplings, and bearings

  • Service motors and drives including motor starters, contactors, overloads, and variable frequency drives

  • Validate safety circuits including e stops, light curtains, interlocks, and guard switches

  • Perform alignment, tensioning, and timing adjustments on high speed conveyor and sortation equipment

  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance tasks using task standards and tolerance ranges

  • Capture failure codes, device states, and repair actions in CMMS with clear technical notes

Systems and Technology Exposure

Technicians in this role regularly work with:

  • High speed conveyor and sortation systems including merges, diverts, transfers, and accumulation zones

  • Robotic handling and automated workstations such as pick modules, palletizing cells, or guided automation platforms

  • PLC based control systems at the field device level including input and output devices and control panels

  • Motor control systems including starters, contactors, overload protection, and variable speed drives

  • Electrical distribution panels and low voltage industrial control circuits

  • Pneumatic systems including valves, cylinders, regulators, and air preparation units

  • Hydraulic components where installed, including actuators and control valves

  • Industrial safety systems including guarded zones, interlock circuits, and emergency stop networks

  • Smart sensors including photoelectric, inductive, capacitive, and barcode based detection devices

  • Maintenance and asset tracking platforms such as CMMS for work orders and asset history

Required Background

  • High school diploma or GED

  • One or more years of hands on technical maintenance experience in an industrial or automated setting

  • Demonstrated electrical and mechanical troubleshooting ability

  • Experience working with industrial equipment, controls components, or automation devices

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings

  • Comfortable using digital tools and maintenance tracking systems

  • Physically able to lift up to fifty pounds and work at elevation when required

  • Authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship

Preferred Background

  • Technical diploma or associate degree in mechatronics, robotics, electrical, or industrial maintenance

  • Two or more years supporting automated or robotics driven equipment

  • Experience working around PLC controlled systems and industrial controls panels

  • Experience troubleshooting sensors, drives, and motor control circuits

  • CMMS usage experience

  • Formal apprenticeship or trade program completion

  • Training in industrial electrical safety practices
