Position Overview:
As our HR Generalist, you will partner with employees, unions, and leaders to provide guidance on a broad range of HR matters, ensuring compliance with legislation, collective agreements, and company policies. Acting as the senior HR presence on-site, you will work independently while supporting recruitment across technical, unionized, and professional roles, mentoring the HR Coordinator, and contributing to key committees. You will coach and influence managers on employee relations and performance management, navigate sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion, and build trusted relationships across all levels of the organization.

Your Day to Day as our Human Resources Generalist:
Organizational Design
Partner with leaders to optimize team structures and workflows
Review and update job descriptions to align with evolving business needs
Support hiring managers in defining role requirements and organizational fit
Recruitment
Collaborate with managers to plan and execute hiring strategies
Support full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, screening, and interviews
Lead offer development, including compensation and approvals
Manage agency relationships, contractors, and workforce planning initiatives
Employment Equity
Support employment equity programs and annual reporting requirements
Participate in equity committees and maintain compliance plans
Employee & Labour Relations
Advise and coach leaders on performance management and employee relations
Support leave management, accommodations, and workplace policies
Lead investigations, conflict resolution, and employee relations matters
Partner with union representatives and support collective agreement administration
Participate in union meetings, grievance processes, and negotiations as needed
Project & HR Initiatives
Contribute to HR projects including continuous improvement and system enhancements
Support HRIS upgrades and drive adoption of self-service tools
Update policies to reflect legislative changes and best practices
Analyze HR metrics to inform decision-making and business insights
Support broader HR programs such as succession planning and change management
Required Qualifications:
University degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
CHRP or CHRL designation strongly preferred
Experience & Knowledge
5–7 years of progressive HR experience in a generalist role
Experience in a unionized and federally regulated environment (Canada Labour Code) is an asset
Strong knowledge of employment legislation, labour law, and HR best practices
Proven experience in employee relations, investigations, performance management, and job evaluation
Demonstrated ability to lead HR projects and drive process improvements
Technical Skills
Proficiency with HRIS systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP) and HR data analytics
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
Experience using data and insights to support decision-making
