As a member of the health care team, perform all necessary
in-patient or out-patient
pharmaceutical duties to ensure
optimal
patient outcomes

Implement the most recent concepts of pharmaceutical care and drug utilization
.
All work is
accomplished
in accordance with
the policies and regulations of local, state, and federal authorities,
as well
as,
accepted standards of practice
.
- Prepare and dispense medication, chemotherapy, IV mixtures, and other pharmaceuticals according to accepted standards of practice.
- Verify accuracy of all medications prepared for dispensing.
- Collaborate clinically with physicians or other health care professionals when necessary and appropriate.
- Oversee and use proper techniques for sterile compounding.
- Serve as a drug information resource to physicians, nurses, and other members of the health care team.
- Assist in maintaining an acceptable inventory level of medication and supplies under proper storage conditions and security.
- Assign, teach, and monitor the work of technicians, students, etc.
- Accurately interprets and enters the physician orders into the computer, follows formulary control policy and procedures, and provides drug information as requested.
