The Engineering Project Manager will oversee all phases of capital project management, from conceptual estimate to equipment fabrication, commissioning, validation, start-up, and close-out. This role includes developing multi-objective project scopes, financial spending forecasts, and schedule development while ensuring compliance with user codes. The primary focus will be on an end-of-line packaging line within an aseptic building, with additional support for other projects as needed.
Responsibilities
Develop preliminary budgets and schedules for assigned projects.
Collaborate with project sponsors and stakeholders to prepare Capital Project Appropriation requests (CPAs), including project descriptions, justifications, cost estimates, budgets, schedules, and alternative analyses.
Facilitate meetings, presentations, and reporting to keep stakeholders informed of project status and changes.
Develop Request for Proposal documents for design services, construction services, and major equipment items.
Create Capital and Expense budget requests for future projects during the annual budget cycle.
Arrange training for maintenance and operating personnel, and distribute all appropriate documentation and drawings.
Manage and coordinate successful implementation of assigned projects, ensuring safety, quality, cost-effectiveness, and legal compliance.
Administer, resolve, and control design, construction, contractual, and financial issues on assigned projects.
Complete projects by starting up and checking out new equipment and systems, inspecting construction, and resolving 'punch list' items.
Ensure frequent communication and conduct regular meetings between the Project Team and stakeholders.
Meet all applicable local, state, and federal regulatory requirements on assigned projects.
Generate requests for proposals for purchased equipment and services as necessary.
Lead the development of User Requirement Specifications for equipment and services.
Procure, track, and close out project equipment and services purchases.
Provide or arrange for development of complete design documentation for assigned projects.
Prepare documentation necessary for project approvals and generate change control documentation.
Provide qualification documentation for assigned projects as applicable.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience in CapEx Project Management with full cycle management - initiation, concepting, scoping, scheduling, planning, budgeting, commissioning, and validation.
Experience working within Pharma/GMP environments.
Packaging experience.
Proficiency in Project Management Systems - PowerPoint, MS Project.
Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, time management, and communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- PMP or PE license is a nice-to-have.
Work Environment
This role supports projects in Portage and Kalamazoo, including two manufacturing facilities and one lab facility. The position reports to the Senior Engineering Manager over Capital Projects, and involves working on various projects such as capital equipment, packaging lines, boiler projects, and warehousing projects. The initial contract is expected to be six months, with the potential for extension. A typical workweek is 40 hours, with some potential for overtime. Standard holidays and 10 days of PTO are offered.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.07 - $55.29/hr.
