Position Specific Description
The Project Director leads the cross‑functional effort to enable system growth, coordinating generation expansion, transmission expansion, pipeline capacity, and supporting development activities across the enterprise. The role ensures FPL has the cross‑functional alignment required to meet load‑growth objectives. While execution ownership resides with functional groups, this role provides critical program leadership to ensure a unified delivery plan and the enterprise remains on track.
Key Responsibilities
Direct enterprise‑level coordination across Power Delivery, EMT, Development, Regulatory, and Origination functions.
Oversee planning and readiness activities tied to long‑lead materials, gas transport decisions, and multi‑year transmission projects.
Ensure cross‑functional teams meet enterprise decision windows associated with gas transport, turbine commitments, and transmission initiation.
Provide executive reporting on large load enablement progress, risk, critical decision windows and mitigation paths.
Track execution against key decision points and long‑lead‑time activities such as turbine procurement, pipeline capacity expansion, interconnection milestones, and long‑duration transmission builds.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in utility planning, grid development, major project integration, or equivalent.
Strong program‑management discipline across multi‑year, multi‑stakeholder initiatives.
Demonstrated success coordinating multi‑disciplinary teams.
Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional coordination.
Ability to coordinate across technical and non‑technical teams.
Job Overview
Employees in this role develop and execute plans for new or enhanced generation projects. This job is responsible for resource allocation, schedules, cost and technical adequacy, ensuring the project or transaction is completed in the most cost effective and competitive manner. This position manages all aspects of the business deal and ensures the project is completed on time and within budgetary constraints.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Manages all aspects of the day to day transaction process to ensure timely completion as well as a cost effective and competitive results
Leads and coordinates key functions such as financial feasibility analyses, engineering/design, project legal review, permitting activities and financial negotiations
Coordinates due diligence activities with other internal groups to ensure proper analysis and structuring of assigned projects
Acts as liaison between internal and external specialists regarding procurement, contracting, permitting and interconnection
Constructs contractual arrangements for project development
Negotiates agreements with consultants and subcontractors
Ensures compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements
Fosters external relationships with customers, third parties and members of the community
Identifies opportunities and negotiates power sales contracts
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
