General Description:
Under general supervision of the Business Manager, manage, facilitate and coordinate custodial operations, asset control, and related staff. Responsible for coordinating, training, scheduling and assisting custodial and asset management staff. Responsible to ensure cleanliness and safety of building interiors, furniture, exterior walkways and entryways are maintained in accordance with District standards. Responsible to maintain inventory of District assets and safety data sheets. May be required to fill a regular cleaning assignment.
Essential Job Elements:
- Schedule, evaluate, recommend and assign custodial staff for all sites, including substitues and additional staff as needed for special events and projects.
- Ensure custodial and special project staff are properly trained and maintain safe working conditions and practices.
- Fills in and performs custodial duties if necessary.
- Plan and prepare orders for custodial supplies, materials and equipment.
- Coordinate with district facility maintenance personnel on projects with inter-departmental responsibilities.
- Schedule and coordinate the districts pesticide program for both interior and exterior applications.
- Ensure the district is compliant with all Safety Data Sheet requirements.
- Maintain records, inventory and management procedures for district fixed assets and supplies in accordance with the Arizona Uniform System of Financial Records and district policy.
- Manage the disposal of surplus and unused district property in compliance with the Arizona Procurement Code and district policy.
- Facilitates requests to schedule the use of school facilities for school and district events as well as requests received from the public and outside entities.
- Be proactive and recognize and report potential hazards before they result in an emergency.
- Provide support to principals and staff as needed to ensure facilities are clean and orderly.
- Provide appropriate care for the safekeeping and protection of District equipment, tools, facilities and other assets.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student, staff and management related information.
- Assure compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal, state and local codes, regulations and requirements.
- Supports with integrity the mission, vision, goals and positive culture of Joseph City Schools.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years experience in custodial and/or related facility maintenance preferred.
- Experience coordinating team projects and effectively managing multiple high-stakes priorities.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Communication, interpersonal and physical skills sufficiently effective to perform assigned duties.

Physical Requirements:
Frequently required to stand, walk, climb, stoop, bend, crawl, lift, reach, push, pull, grasp, talk, hear, see and use repetitive motions. May frequently lift, carry and or move up to 50 pounds of materials, equipment, etc. Specific vision abilities include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions:
Works with or near motorized tools and mechanical equipment. Noise level in the work environment may be moderate to high. Subject to vibrations. ccasionally subject to fumes and dust. Caution necessary to avoid harm from misuse of chemicals and loud noise. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with time constraints and multiple priorities and interact with students, other employees, and public.
