What you will be doing: Directly supervises the work-based learning students. Responsible for determining student qualifications for placement, conducting placement activities and placement follow-up and coordinating the business community placement linkages and school-to-work program, in compliance with government and management directives.
Essential Functions :
Plan and coordinate the placement and work-based learning activities
Evaluate staff performance; provide staff training, establish staff work assignments and recommend functional and personnel changes to the center director
Develop and monitor departmental budget, control expenditures, and review and recommend changes to budget authorizations
Assist in the development and implementation of new and revised policies and procedures affecting employability function
Review and audit all assigned areas regularly for contractual compliance and effectiveness of delivery of service to students. Prepare related reports
Maintain program linkages with national, state and local agencies to provide placement services and work-based learning and business community linkages
Identify potential jobs, schools, military or other training program placements for terminating students; maintain placement follow-up on terminated students
Compile required data from respective areas in order to prepare trainees’ resume and placement documents for submission for regional office, placement agencies and/or other training programs
Prepare placement reports and assist in the development of the center’s placement plan
Coordinate and maintain communication with other departments pertaining to the student placement; arrange on and off-center work-based learning assignments and maintain an updated job ready list of all trainees nearing vocational completion
Supervise the leisure time employment program; monitor accountability; coordinate program transfers in/out; assist with exit program activities and exit phase of world of work program and coordinate a comprehensive follow-up program
Participate in industry advisory council
Coordinate graduation ceremonies for work-based learning students
Conduct formal interviews with all students assigned to WBL
Process readjustment funds for job placement and graduation to ensure no overpayment occurs
Audit the OMS 10 and OMS 20 reports to ensure all placements are properly credited
Implement a safety awards program to encourage student and staff awareness and participation.
Participate in student employability programs and activities
Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy
Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions
Maintain accountability of staff, students and property; adhere to safety practices.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in education, human services or associated field and one year related experience required
Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency required
Valid State of Illinois driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
