Corteva Agriscience Trait Out-Licensing Lab Certification Lead in Johnston, Iowa

The Trait Out-Licensing Lab Certification Lead within GSO Quality is responsible for ensuring the availability of qualified commercial Fee-for-Service testing labs and Trait Licensee labs to conduct accurate seed and leaf testing aligned with the Global Seeds Portfolio trait out-licensing strategies.

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate with business leaders to understand and operate an industry leading global licensing business.

  • Develop, review, and update standards and policies to ensure effective material testing programmes across diverse crops, traits, and methods.

  • Design and manage processes for onboarding and removing fee-for-service laboratories from approved lists.

  • Establish and execute a global, multi-year auditing and proficiency testing strategy for fee-for-service labs.

  • Coordinate cross-functional implementation of proficiency testing for external labs, including assembling test kits, distributing samples, reviewing results, and providing recommendations.

  • Certify laboratories for testing Corteva's out-licensed traits, maintain certified lab lists, and manage renewal processes using risk-based approaches.

  • Use EtQ Reliance Software to streamline lab auditing, reporting, and communication activities.

  • Collaborate with legal teams to draft and update agreements for material and method transfers, and oversee required testing by fee-for-service and licensee labs.

  • Define and manage method and material transfers to licensees such as BASF, Bayer, and Syngenta, in partnership with Legal.

  • Monitor and forecast reference material inventories (seeds and plant tissue) and ensure timely production and availability through collaboration with relevant teams.

  • Review trait license agreements and quality manuals to ensure proficiency testing and auditing requirements are appropriately documented.

  • Lead troubleshooting and provide support for analytical issues encountered by fee-for-service or licensee labs.

  • Respond to queries from licensees and fee-for-service labs regarding testing methods and analyses.

  • Maintain an archive of analytical methods and test protocols for each analysis.

  • Coordinate method development and troubleshooting of analytical issues with cross-functional teams as required.

  • Ensure compliance with Corteva’s trait testing standards and contribute to the ongoing growth of the trait out-licensing business.

  • Be an active participant in your own safety and the safety of those around you.

Education:

  • Minimum BS in agriculture, biological sciences, chemistry, or related field.

Skills You Need:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in agriculture, biochemistry, or biotechnology with strong analytical skills and experience in method validation.
