ManpowerGroup Field Research Assistant in Johnston, Iowa

Our client, an innovative research organization specializing in agricultural sciences, is seeking a dedicated Field Research Assistant to join their team. As a Field Research Assistant, you will be an integral part of the research operations supporting the Phenotyping/Field Trial team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong teamwork, adaptability, and a proactive attitude, which will align successfully within the organization.

Job Title: Field Research Assistant

Experience in Agronomy, Plant Breeding, or experience with a research seed company

Location: Johnston, IA

Pay Range: $30-35 hour

Shift: Monday to Friday, with occasional overnight work as needed

What's the Job?

  • Participate as a team member supporting multicrop research activities including planting, harvesting, and data collection.

  • Operate research equipment for planting and harvesting operations.

  • Scout fields for pests and diseases, providing critical agronomic insights.

  • Collaborate with regional scouting teams and communicate effectively with all stakeholders to meet deadlines.

  • Support research projects and seed production activities, including seed preparation and supporting peak seasonal periods.

What's Needed?

  • Experience in Agronomy, Plant Breeding, or related research seed industry.

  • Technologically savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities.

  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions and perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
