Job Title: Flooring Installer

Job Description

The Flooring Installer specializes in hardwood, engineered wood, and laminate flooring, operating buffing machines and edgers, and applying finishes and paint to flooring surfaces. This role suits someone who enjoys hands-on construction work, understands wood materials, and takes pride in delivering durable, high-quality flooring installations.

Responsibilities

  • Install hardwood, engineered wood, and laminate flooring in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.

  • Prepare job sites by performing demolition, subfloor leveling, moisture testing, and layout planning before installation begins.

  • Measure, cut, and fit flooring materials using professional tools and techniques to ensure precise and clean installations.

  • Operate buffing machines and edgers to smooth and finish flooring surfaces.

  • Apply finishes, sealants, and paint to flooring to achieve the desired appearance and durability.

  • Repair or replace damaged flooring sections as needed to restore a uniform and safe surface.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout each project.

  • Follow safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment while on site.

  • Collaborate with crew members to complete projects efficiently and on schedule.

Essential Skills

  • At least 6 months of construction experience.

  • Experience or strong interest in flooring installation or related construction trades.

  • Ability to bend, kneel, and work on hands and knees for extended periods.

  • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Good attendance and reliability, with a strong commitment to showing up on time and completing scheduled work.

  • Basic proficiency with construction tools and measuring equipment.

  • Ability to follow instructions, project specifications, and safety guidelines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Comfort working in small crews and coordinating tasks with team members.

  • Attention to detail when measuring, cutting, and fitting materials.

  • Willingness to learn new flooring techniques and tools on the job.

Work Environment

Work takes place inside buildings where flooring is being installed or repaired. You will typically work in small crews of 2–4 people, collaborating closely to complete each project. The culture reflects a family-owned, small-company atmosphere with a focus on teamwork and mutual support. Standard hours run from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., starting and ending the day at the shop. Construction work pants and steel-toe boots are required as part of the dress code. All necessary tools are provided, along with personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, to support safe and efficient work on site.

This is a Permanent position based out of Johnson Creek, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
