Job Title: General Laborer

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated General Laborer to join our Production team at a recycling facility. This role involves efficiently and safely processing organic waste to produce renewable natural gas. The work involves directing transportation vehicles, inspecting loads, and operating heavy equipment to receive and process liquid and solid organic waste materials.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with routine plant operations, including material handling and equipment monitoring.

  • Unload organic waste, depalletizing and unpackaging materials as needed.

  • Inspect incoming loads, sort and separate organic materials and contaminants according to company procedures.

  • Perform general maintenance tasks such as cleaning, painting, and minor repairs, including sweeping, power-washing, and regular sanitation of machinery, equipment, and work areas.

  • Perform entry-level maintenance tasks, identify and report maintenance and safety issues to appropriate personnel.

  • Adhere to all safety regulations and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

  • Provide support to machine operators, maintenance mechanics, customers, and others as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager to ensure smooth operation of the facility.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in receiving, shipping, and warehouse distribution.

  • Documentation control skills.

  • Experience in packing, cleaning, loading, material handling, and machine operation.

  • General labor and production skills.

  • Background in packaging and materials handling.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School General Education Degree or equivalent.

  • Previous experience in waste management, recycling, or an industrial setting is preferred.

  • Basic understanding of safety procedures and ability to follow instructions.

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools.

  • Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team.

Schedule

The facility operates Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jessup, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
