Job Description:Job Title: Data EngineerDuration: 12 MonthsLocation: Jersey City NJ or Addison, TXPayrate: $70.00 - $73.68/hrDay‑to‑Day ResponsibilitiesGather and clarify business requirementsMonitor jobs, analyze user queries, and determine where data gaps existWork directly with business users to investigate SQL tables and identify missing or incorrect dataHandle enhancement requests and development asksPerform analysis and cascade requirements and findings to the development teamSupport the long‑standing Touchpoint Data Warehouse (TPW) initiative (10-15 years old)Technical Environment & RequirementsPrimary database: Oracle (migrated from a legacy environment) — must be strong with Oracle SQLPython: scripting for data processing, transformations, and ETL workflowsAbility to walk through procedures, job flows, and database tablesNot hands‑on coding full solutions; more analysis and communication with dev teams and businessMinimum 10+ years experienceExcellent communication skills are criticalExpected to perform live SQL query writing during interviewsTeam is based largely in NY — preference for candidates in NJTeam OverviewThe team is a Data Engineering group focused on building and maintaining robust Database centric data pipelines, database solutions, and analytics platforms across heterogeneous systems. They develop and maintain Oracle, PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, Vertica and Unix Shell/Python automation, with workload scheduling orchestrated through Autosys.The team ensures end to end data integrity, reliability, and performance across traditional database environments (Oracle, Vertica, MS SQL). They leverage data modeling, data profiling, dimensional modeling, and database testing to deliver well documented, stable, and compliant data solutions.They also support UAT, create training materials, and collaborate with adjacent technology teams to manage dependencies and ensure software stability and data qualityApex Systems is a world-class IT services company that serves thousands of clients across the globe.
