Summary This vacancy is for a Quality Assurance Supervisor position in the National Processing Center located at the U.S. Census Bureau National Processing Center in Jeffersonville, IN. Responsibilities The individual selected for this position will: Plan, direct, review and coordinate the work for the staff performing quality assurance and related duties for preprocessing (mailout) activities; analyze work requirements and determines staff resources, making adjustments as appropriate. Translate quality assurance plans into clerical instructions for statistical assistants and statistical clerks; apply sound judgement in circumventing potential problems utilizing acquired knowledge and experience; resolve occurring problems expeditiously for operational effectiveness taking necessary corrective action according to quality standards. Develop and administer controls, records, and reports necessary to secure efficient processing of major censuses, recurring and non-recurring mailout activities; report progress and resolution of problems to higher levels of management. Train subordinates and equitably allocate work assignments on a variety of quality assurance verification and monitoring operations associated with the receipt of materials and mailout activities of recurring/non-recurring surveys and major censuses; develop and implement clerical procedures and establishes operating guidelines according to specifications and feasibility. Review problems presented by subordinates and utilize procedures for handling them within specified guidelines. To qualify for the position of Quality Assurance Supervisor, at GS-1531-7, you must meet the minimum and/or basic qualification requirements listed below. Specialized Experience: For the GS-07, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-06 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: leading the planning, directing of work that requires statistical analysis of collected data and assisting in monitoring statistical analysis assignments as it relates to quality assurance methods and procedures; ensuring work is completed within specified time limits; completing forms and preparing reports; demonstrating work processes to others. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer. Education Additional Information Tour of Duty: Hours will be 6:45 a.m.to 3:15 p.m. Monday through Friday. Alternate Work Schedule is available. Alternate Work Schedule is an 80-hour biweekly basic work requirement that is scheduled in less than 10 days; i.e., eight 9-hour days/nights, one 8-hour day/night, and one day off. Positions may include shift work, evening or weekend work, hours will vary. This position may include full time and/or part time work and may require a mixed tour agreement.
