Director of Marketing & Community Engagement

Location: Jamestown, NY

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Lutheran is seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of Marketing & Community Engagement to lead the organization’s marketing, branding, communications, and community presence across a diverse portfolio of programs, including Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Family and Youth Services (foster care, adoption, post-adoption, supervised visitation, and related community services).

This role is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive, organization-wide strategy that strengthens brand identity, supports program growth, enhances community engagement, and aligns closely with fundraising efforts through the Lutheran Foundation.

This role is well-suited for a motivated professional ready to step into a senior leadership position and expand their impact within a mission-driven organization.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Branding

  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive marketing, communications, and community engagement strategy aligned with organizational goals

  • Lead and guide brand strategy and related initiatives across the organization, in collaboration with leadership and external partners as needed

  • Establish and maintain a unified brand voice and identity across all service lines and audiences

  • Partner with executive leadership to position the organization for growth and increased visibility

    Marketing & Communications

  • Develop and execute annual marketing and communications plans

  • Oversee website, social media, digital campaigns, and print materials

  • Manage internal and external communications, including newsletters, media relations, and public messaging

  • Monitor performance metrics and adjust strategies to improve reach and engagement

  • Ensure consistent, mission-driven storytelling across all channels

    Foundation & Fundraising Support

  • Collaborate with the Lutheran Foundation to support 2–3 annual fundraising campaigns, including newsletter-style appeals and donor communications

  • Develop compelling messaging and storytelling to support donor engagement and retention

  • Align marketing strategies with fundraising priorities and organizational initiatives

  • Support visibility and promotion of development activities and outcomes

    Community Engagement & Partnerships

  • Build and strengthen relationships with community organizations, businesses, and key stakeholders

  • Identify and pursue opportunities to increase awareness and engagement across all programs

  • Represent the organization at community events, meetings, and outreach initiatives

  • Support partnerships that enhance service delivery, visibility, and impact

    Events & Campaigns

  • Plan and oversee community events and outreach initiatives that support brand awareness and engagement

  • Ensure events are strategic, mission-aligned, and contribute to long-term relationship-building

  • Collaborate with program leaders to ensure strong participation and alignment

    Recruitment & Employer Branding

  • Partner with Human Resources to support recruitment marketing strategies

  • Promote Lutheran as an employer of choice through storytelling and outreach

  • Highlight employee experiences, culture, and mission-driven work

    Internal Communication & Culture

  • Support leadership in communicating updates, initiatives, and organizational priorities

  • Help strengthen employee engagement through clear and consistent communication

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field

  • 5–10 years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, community engagement, or a related field, with demonstrated growth in responsibility

  • Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills

  • Experience managing digital platforms (social media, website, campaigns)

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively

    Preferred: nonprofit, healthcare, or fundraising experience

    Compensation

  • Compensation for this position is expected to begin in the range of $65,000–$75,000, based on experience and qualifications
