Actalent Mechanical Design Engineer in Jacksonville, Florida

Job Title: Mechanical Design EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment to join our engineering team. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and improving mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks and AutoCAD, while supporting products from concept through production. The ideal candidate has strong collaboration skills and a solid understanding of manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacturability principles.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical components, subassemblies, and assemblies for manufactured products.

  • Create and maintain 3D models and detailed 2D drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

  • Generate and revise engineering documentation including drawings, BOMs, specifications, and ECOs/ECNs.

  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and meet performance requirements.

  • Support prototype builds, testing, and validation activities.

  • Troubleshoot design and production issues and implement corrective design changes.

  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous product improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards, codes, and company procedures.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

  • 3–5 years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing or production environment.

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and assemblies.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D engineering drawings.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with fiberglass.

  • Supporting customers through the sales group.

  • Supporting quality assurance.

  • Helping set standards, tolerances, and work instructions.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a manufacturing setting where collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential. The role involves working with advanced design software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD. The position requires attention to detail and adherence to engineering standards and procedures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Jacksonville, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.87 - $48.07/hr.
