Electrical Installer / Test Technician

Job Description

The Electrical Installer is responsible for installing aircraft components, mechanical systems, wiring, and flight safety controls in a production and new-build assembly environment. This role serves as a subject matter expert, supporting the team by coaching others and ensuring accurate understanding and application of engineering drawings, blueprints, wire schematics, and specifications. The position requires strong working knowledge of electrical theory and aircraft electrical systems to perform modification, assembly, testing, and installation tasks safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Install aircraft components, mechanical systems, wiring, and flight safety controls according to engineering drawings, blueprints, wire schematics, and specifications.

  • Perform new-build aircraft electrical assembly and production assembly tasks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Interpret and apply engineering drawings and technical documentation to complete electrical installation and routing work correctly.

  • Select and use appropriate types and sizes of wires, cables, and connectors for various aircraft electrical systems and applications.

  • Clamp, route, and secure wiring and cabling to meet quality, safety, and engineering requirements.

  • Use hand and automatic wire strippers, wire cutters, heat guns, electric and pneumatic power tools, and other specialized tools to complete installation and assembly work.

  • Operate common electrical test devices, including megohmmeters, digital and analog multimeters, voltmeters, ammeters, bond meters, meggers, and specialized test sets.

  • Conduct basic electrical tests to check continuity, resistance, voltage, opens, shorts, insulation breakdown, grounds, and malfunctioning switches and relays.

  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to aircraft electrical systems and components.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and provide coaching and guidance to team members on interpreting drawings, schematics, and specifications.

  • Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment while working with electrical systems and tools.

  • Meet production deadlines and support overtime work as needed to satisfy schedule and delivery requirements.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and care for company-provided tools and measuring equipment.

Essential Skills

  • Working knowledge of electrical theory, principles, and circuitry as applied to aircraft electrical systems.

  • General understanding of basic electronic principles to support modification, assembly, testing, and installation of electrical systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, wire schematics, and technical specifications.

  • Working knowledge of various types and sizes of wires, cables, and connectors and their application in aircraft electrical systems.

  • Skilled in the use of hand and automatic wire strippers, wire cutters, heat guns, electric and pneumatic power tools, and other specialized tools of the trade.

  • Proficiency in operating electrical test devices such as megohmmeters, digital and analog multimeters, voltmeters, ammeters, bond meters, meggers, and specialized test sets.

  • Ability to perform electrical checks for continuity, resistance, voltage, opens, shorts, insulation breakdown, grounds, and malfunctioning switches and relays.

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Production and new-build aircraft assembly experience.

  • Ability to work in a deadline-intensive production environment and support required overtime.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Preferred 4+ years of experience in aircraft electrical installation, production assembly, or a closely related field.

  • Experience with new-build aircraft assembly and production assembly processes.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.

  • Ability to coach and support team members in understanding drawings, schematics, and specifications.

  • Comfort working with a wide range of electrical test equipment and hand tools in a production setting.

Work Environment

This role operates in a fast-paced, deadline-intensive production environment where overtime is required for most positions to meet schedule and delivery commitments. The facility is very organized, exceptionally clean, and well lit, creating a professional and efficient workspace. The workplace is climate controlled, providing a comfortable environment year-round. The company supplies all tools and measuring tools necessary for the job. Safety is a priority, with requirements that include steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and hearing protection where required. The dress code includes closed-toe shoes, long pants, and t-shirts that do not display vulgar content

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jacksonville, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $32.00/hr.
