Eaton Corporation Manufacturing Engineer in Jackson, Michigan
Eaton’s IS AER FED division is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer. This position will be located at our Jackson, MI facility.
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting plant High Performance Work Teams (HPWTs) by implementing Advanced Manufacturing technologies, tooling design, and gauging to most effectively improve the plant’s High 5 metrics: Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity. In this role, you will work closely with Manufacturing and Quality Engineering functions in each Value Stream as well as CI to understand biggest impacts for Advanced Manufacturing technologies to implement successful projects that drive tangible gain.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $71000 - $105000 a year.

What you’ll do:
• Maintain and improve safe and environmentally responsible manufacturing processes.
• Uses MESH (Eaton Environmental, Safety and Health process), and other Eaton and industry standard practices.
• Design processes to ensure that components and assemblies meet all internal and external customer quality specifications (Eaton Quality System, AS9100, and NADCAP).
• Ensure efficiency tied to capital intensity and human resources by utilizing Eaton LEAN and Six Sigma tools.
• Active engagement with a High Performance Work Team (HPWT)/Focus Factories to support long term improvement of on-time delivery of customer orders through the manufacturing process excellence, including troubleshooting machine and tooling problems, reduction of defective materials, and implementing digital technologies.
• Maintain and improve product flow through the plant through reduced Defective Material Report (DMR) and Process stop occurrences. Resolve issue systematically when product stops occur.
• Design gaging, and tooling utilizing CATIA solid modeling software and other engineering analysis and design tools. Work with suppliers and purchasing to procure tooling, equipment, and supplies as required.
• Create and maintain pFMEAs, process routers, equipment PMs and Process documents to achieve High 5 targets.
• Troubleshoot, recommend, and implement changes in products and processes to improve manufacturability and profitability (cost out). Work directly with production associates, from all areas of the plant, in the implementation of projects to build an inclusive culture and processes that meet the needs of all employees and customers.
• Collect and analyze manufacturing data and metrics to aid in design and improvement of processes or products including scrap and defective material report (DMR) system.
• Work closely with data sets and DAQ systems to implement improved data tracking systems such as OEE, Asset Monitoring, DWI/MES systems, etc. to drive up High 5 Metrics.
• Manage activities and budgets for manufacturing and process improvement projects, including the development of the project management requirements and all implementation documentation.
• Implement digital monitoring and improved manufacturing hardware to better track and poke-yoke manual processes to improve High 5.
• Provide functional and technical support to the HPWT within the assigned area of focus as well as the organization as required to support goals.
Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of three (3) months of internship or co-op experience in engineering or manufacturing.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future.
• This position requires access to export-controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, applicant must be a U.S. person, defined as a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158.
• No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Jackson, MI will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Controls, Mechanical, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering.
• Experience implementing Advanced Manufacturing technologies.
• Lean and/or Six Sigma certification.
• Experience in high mix/low volume manufacturing environment.
• Experience in hose assembly, manual assembly/test, metal fabrication and bend, welding/brazing, chemical processes.

• Limited travel may be required (<20%).
