The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to primarily serve the veteran population of Louisiana by providing medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of the home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans, with the ultimate goal of returning them to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.

The Louisiana Veterans Homes is seeking a hardworking and dependableFood Service 1/2/3 to assist with the sufficient preparation and operation of the Dietary department . This role is vital in ensuring basic-level food service preparation duties within the food service operation. The ideal candidate a team player, willing to learn, and be able to maintain job requirements in a fast-paced environment. Join our dedicated team in serving those who served.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

The Food Service Specialist 1/2/3 requires dietary work for the Louisiana Veterans' Home and will perform specific functions such as:

  • Prepares food as assigned on the daily production schedule.

  • Assist other food service workers with food preparation as needed.

  • Utilize commercial grade food production equipment for preparation off food.

  • Assure food is prepared following food sanitation guidelines.

  • Studies and learns standardized recipes for the menu and therapeutic diets.

  • Adjust recipes according to food production requirements.

  • Set up serving line for meal service.

  • Ensures food is prepared and maintained at correct serving temperature.

  • Prepare resident meal trays following specific diet restrictions.

  • Clean cooking utensils, food production equipment, serving line and main dining room after every meal service.
