The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to primarily serve the veteran population of Louisiana by providing medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of the home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans, with the ultimate goal of returning them to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.

The Louisiana Veterans Homes is seeking a hardworking and dependable Custodian 1/2/3 to assist with the upkeep and operation of the Housekeeping department . This role is vital in performing basic manual tasks in order to maintain the cleanliness, sanitary conditions, and appearance of state buildings, facilities, institutions, etc. The ideal candidate a team player, willing to learn, and be able to maintain job requirements in a fast-paced environment. Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

The Custodian 1/2/3 requires housekeeping work for the Louisiana Veterans' Home and will perform specific functions such as:

  • Cleans bathrooms, offices, hallways, and any other assigned areas by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing.

  • On a daily basis, cleans, mops, disinfects, dusts, and sweeps assigned area.

  • Reports deficiencies such as paint peeling, water leaks in the faucets/toilets, bugs in the light fixtures, broken equipment, etc.

  • Cleans contaminated trash bins. Decontaminates patient rooms, restrooms, and isolation rooms which contain biohazard wastes such as blood, urine, feces, and used needles.

  • Strips, buffs, waxes, and disinfects floors to an assigned area on a regular basis using required industrial machinery.

  • Mixes cleaning solution to proper concentrations as necessary for various tasks.
