The Central Georgia Electric Membership Corporation Experienced Lineworker in Jackson, Georgia

SUMMARY:

The Experienced Lineworker, performs numerous duties involved in the maintenance and construction of lines in both energized and de-energized states (overhead and/or underground). The work often involves climbing poles and working out of a bucket truck as needed to work on overhead lines when installing

transformers, capacitors, regulators, or other line equipment. The Experienced Lineworker follows CGEMC,

NESC, OSHA, state, and other regulatory agency rules and procedures in the work being performed.

The Experienced Lineworker has a working knowledge of CGEMCs distribution system and of electrical

line equipment. The Experienced Lineworker is on call for outages.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

Primary Position Responsibilities

Follows CGEMC safety

procedures and rules in the performance of all work.

Wears

appropriate work clothing, hard hat, leather gloves, safety glasses, and other safety

equipment

as necessary. Attends regularly scheduled safety meetings and other

classroom training.

Maintains ability to administer first aid, pole top and bucket truck rescue, and artificial resuscitation.

Complies with OSHA rules and regulations.

Performs manual labor type tasks as assigned.

Maintains tools and equipment in good working order such as pliers, crescent wrenches, channel locks, wire cutters, hydraulic crimpers, and bucket truck.

Climbs poles when inaccessible for bucket truck.

Climbs into bucket and uses controls to raise and lower bucket to position it for work

to be

performed on the pole.

Works on lines in energized and de-energized states.

Installs, removes and relocates transformers, service drops, circuit breakers, conductors,

capacitors, regulators, and other line equipment as needed.

Installs lines underground putting into place PVC conduit and pulling cable through - terminates cable on pads, and connects wires in meter bases.

Provides on-the-job training to Lineperson trainees or other subordinates and helpers

Attends vendor schools, special training, and safety sessions as assigned.

Attends in-house training classes in preparation for job progression.

Fills out documentation on installed equipment including name of equipment, job number, service order number

, location, etc.
